Bucaneer® provide a safe, simple, efficient one step chlorine disinfection that is effective and reliable.
Bucaneer® are either an adjustable or fixed in-line water chlorinator which continuously dispenses Calcium Hypochlorite as the active ingredient.
Bucaneer® are a versatile point-of-use device which can be used as a fixed installation or mobile portable unit.
Disease causing organisms can be destroyed by chlorinating water, or by washing down the environment with high levels of chlorine using water as the carrier. This has been widely known and accepted for a number of years. Pathogens cannot develop an immunity to our product. Chlorine can kill:
- Viruses (including Parvo, Hepatitis, Polio, Aids, etc.),
- Bacteria (including cholera, typhoid, dysentery, causes septic wounds, Mastitis, etc.),
- Fungi (molds and algae)
- Protozoa (causing dysentery (amoebic), Giardia Lamblia, and other cysts on plant life) can all be eliminated by the use of Klorman Plus Systems®.
Because Bucaneer® are placed inline with the water system, whether stationary or portable, it makes it easy to disinfect all surfaces you use and is a constant USDA approved sanitation system. Can any other system claim this? No. That is why Animal Capture Equipment, Inc. is happy to be offering this to our clients.
The difference between bleach and Klorman®:
- Bucaneer® contains no lye. There is no need to rinse
- Bucaneer® kill on contact so there is no long wet times.
- Bleach uses lye which can cause lye burns on skin and animal tissues. In some instances, it can kill a sensitive animal. Because of this reason, you need to rinse bleach off your surfaces. Plus Systems? contains no lye.
- Bleach does not kill on contact and must remain "wet" for about 10 minutes.
- Bleach is not very effective on porous surfaces.
- Klorman Plus Systems® pH value is 7.6-8.0 which is the exact pH value swimming pools and spas are indicated as the ideal level of pH. Bucaneer® is made with calcium hypoclorite (HTH) with the available chlorine being a stable 65-70%. Under normal storage conditions, claimed loss of strength is only 3-5%.
- Bleach has a high pH value (roughly 10.2). As the pH rises the active chlorine sanitizer will decline. This destroys the disinfecting ability. Bleach is sodium hypochlorite an unstable chlorine. The alkalinity of bleach is high this causes the surfaces you are trying to disinfect to be eroded after time. Available off the shelf bleach is an active sodium hypochlorite solution of only 5.75%.
- Bleach can lose up to 50% of their strength within 90 days in a sealed container due to the solution being unstable.
- Bleach chemically reacts with organic (protein) and inorganic ammonia (urine) and combines with them causing obnoxious, pungent, eye-stinging chloramine gases. The more you use it the more gases are released. This is another reason you need to rinse when using bleach.
- Bucaneer® does not chemically bond with these and thus does not create the gases that are harmful to you or the environment. There is no need to rinse.
Bucaneer® is being used to sanitize food processing plants for both meat and vegetables as well as in restaurants and supermarkets. If it gets into food areas of your cage, though we do not suggest allowing large amounts of our product to be injested, it can be.
It has been approved for use in livestock water.
Bucaneer® is being used to clean and disinfect kennels, cages and equipment.
Bucaneer® are:
- USDA Approved,
- FDA Approved,
- EPA Registration No. 57425-3,
- CAL EPA Registration No. 57425-3-AA
- and is registered for use in HAZMAT situations at 20-30ppm.

Bucaneer® with their patented HYPOCHLOR® tablets in a disposable cartridge are the only systems which make possible the controlled, continuous controlled dosing of calcium hypochlorite in a water line.
Bucaneer® does not combine chlorines. “Bonded chlorines” or “combined chlorines” are what cause the obnoxious odor and “chlorine smell” or chloramines. Bucaneer® because it utilizes the correct and most effective use of chlorine, leaves the air fresh and environmentally clean. Eliminates the potentially deadly chlorine gas in your environment.
Note: Do not mix Bucaneer® with pool chlorine (which is another form of chlorine cyanurate-based chlorine (TCIA). Mixture of these two chlorines can cause an explosion. Only use Bucaneer® chlorine in Bucaneer®.
We recommend placing the Klorman Plus Systems® as close to the point of use as possible to eliminate entry of contamination from an outside source. If the system is not to be plumbed into the water system we recommend buying the stand for ease of portability and protection of the distribution unit.
